0.1 Overview

Proximity is a software product designed to provide organizations with a streamlined solution for accessing accurate and up-to-date data from a single source. The product aims to eliminate the hassle of managing multiple sources of information, thereby enabling employees to retrieve the information they need promptly. By offering a centralized data repository, Proximity promises significant time savings, estimated at up to 15 days per year per employee.

0.2 Challenge

Despite the promising concept, the initial iteration of Proximity faced challenges in gaining traction within the market. Feedback from interested users highlighted that the product's user experience lacked depth and engagement. The simplicity of the interface, though intended to be user-friendly, was perceived as overly basic and failed to meet the evolving needs of modern organizations.

0.3 Approach

In response to the market's feedback, a comprehensive redesign of Proximity was undertaken to enhance user experience, expand functionality, and make the product more visually engaging. This overhaul aimed to elevate the product's appeal and usability while maintaining its core value proposition of consolidating data sources.

Redesign and Enhanced User Experience:

  • 1. User-Centric Design:To gain a better understanding of the user experience, the redesign process began with in-depth user research. This involved conducting surveys, interviews, and usability testing to identify pain points and areas for improvement.
  • 2. Modern Visuals: The product's interface underwent a visual overhaul, transitioning from a simplistic design to a more modern and visually appealing layout. The use of vibrant colors, intuitive icons, and clear typography was introduced to create a visually engaging experience.
  • 3. Customization Options: Recognizing the diverse needs of different organizations, customization options were introduced. Users could now personalize their experience by selecting themes, customizing data fields, and tailoring the application to align with their unique requirements.


  • 4. Admin Control: A comprehensive admin panel was developed, enabling administrators to easily manage user permissions, data sources, and customize the platform's settings according to the organization's needs. The introduction of a CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) interface simplified data management.
  • 5. Heatmaps Integration: One of the project's significant advancements was the introduction of heatmaps. These heatmaps visualized data on maps, offering insights into caller distribution, frequency, and concentration. This addition provided valuable analytical capabilities for businesses seeking to optimize resource allocation and service efficiency.

0.4 Process

When embarking on the journey of approaching a new project, I adhere to a structured three-step process that ensures the creation of a successful and well-received product.

Step 1: Sketch It At the inception of the project, I dive deep into the task by meticulously analyzing and comprehending the requirements and challenges at hand. This stage involves immersing myself in the intricacies of the project to gain a comprehensive understanding of what needs to be achieved. To kickstart this process, I start by sketching out the problems and intricacies, mapping out the potential flow of the solution in multiple personas. Through these sketches, I not only identify possible blocker but also envision potential solutions. This phase is instrumental in outlining the groundwork for a successful project, identifying potential hazard, and devising strategies to overcome them.

Step 2: Develop It Having identified the solutions, I transition to the development phase. This step involves translating the conceptual sketches into tangible mockups that are both visually appealing and engaging. Here, I pay special attention to creating a customized style that aligns with the project's goals and target audience. The focus is on making the mockups not just functional, but also aesthetically pleasing, capturing the essence of the solution in a way that resonates with users. Additionally, I introduce interactions that enhance user experience, ensuring that the product is not only visually attractive but also intuitive to use.

Step 3: Presenting the refined mockups and polished interactions is crucial. I transform these into a clickable prototype, providing a hands-on experience of the product's functionality. Stakeholders and team members can explore the solution's features and interactions firsthand. Their insights and opinions refine the product, resulting in a well-informed solution aligned with diverse perspectives. This collaborative approach ensures effective project development, creating solutions that are both functional and well-received.

The comprehensive redesign and expansion of Caller Proximity yielded positive results:

  1. User Engagement: The revamped interface and enhanced user experience led to increased user engagement and adoption. Users reported a greater sense of satisfaction with the product's functionality and aesthetics.
  2. Market Penetration: The introduction of customization options, admin controls, and security features catered to a broader range of organizations, allowing Caller Proximity to penetrate diverse market segments.
  3. Time Savings: As intended, the product continued to deliver on its promise of time savings. With the streamlined access to data and efficient tools, employees could save up to 15 days per year, contributing to improved productivity.
